Zine 4: How Brigid Built The Fire
This zine is about the power of Brigid, Goddess and Saint, in my own life. In the summer of 2023 I formally dedicated myself to Her. This was after some serious snafus with a Galway guy who gave me a Brigid's cross one day in the rain. The Power of Brigid entered my life on that day and She has not let go of me.
This zine covers the period of time between my introduction to Her (late 2022) to Samhain (Halloween) of 2023. During this period Brigid interceded in my life to heal me of the lasting effects of PTSD from sexual trauma. The zine takes places in New York City and in Ireland.
For those who don't know, Brigid is a pre-Christian Celtic Goddess of poets, the forge, and the healing well. She is said to protect women and to have invented a form of grieving called keening. St. Brigid is a 6th century female Bishop whose acolytes tended to her eternal flame at their monastery in Kildare, Ireland.
There is a lot on Brigid in this zine. It's great for the newcomer or old-timer of Brigid love. This zine is my "unverified personal gnosis". It goes deep into my personal experience, and it's not meant to be taken as some kind of direction manual on how to connect with Brigid. I created this zine it to demonstrate Her power in my life. I made this zine to show how developing a relationship with a Goddess / Supernatural Power helps me recover and heal from the lasting effects of sexual trauma, abuse, and violence.
